Crude Palm Oil (CPO)

Crude Palm Oil (CPO) is one of the most consumed types of vegetable oil by the world community, which is about 40 percent of all types of vegetable oil. Launching the Palm Oil Polytechnic page, CPO is crude palm oil. This product is obtained from the extraction or compression process of the fruit flesh (mesocarp) of oil palm and has not been purified. CPO is crude palm oil which is reddish in color. The use of CPO oil is quite diverse, especially as a food ingredient, cosmetic industry, chemical industry, animal feed industry, and others.
Difference between CPO and PKO
Crude palm oil is different from Palm Kernel Oil (PKO), even though they are produced by the same fruit. In addition, crude palm oil is also different from coconut oil which is produced from the kernel of the coconut fruit (cocos nuifcera). Not only that, another difference lies in the content of each type of oil. CPO basically has a reddish color due to the presence of high beta carotene.     

Crude Palm Oil (CPO) adalah salah satu jenis minyak nabati yang paling banyak dikonsumsi oleh masyarakat dunia, yakni sekitar 40 persen dari seluruh jenis minyak nabati. Melansir laman Politeknik Kelapa Sawit, CPO merupakan minyak kelapa sawit mentah. Produk ini diperoleh dari hasil ekstraksi atau proses pengempaan daging buah (mesocarp) kelapa sawit dan belum mengalami pemurnian. CPO adalah minyak kelapa sawit mentah yang berwarna kemerah-merahan. Pemanfaatan minyak CPO cukup beragam, terutama sebagai bahan pangan, industri kosmetik, industri kimia, industri pakan ternak, dan lain-lain. 
Perbedaan CPO dan PKO
Minyak kelapa sawit mentah berbeda dengan minyak inti kelapa sawit (Palm Kernel Oil/PKO), sekalipun keduanya dihasilkan oleh buah yang sama. Selain itu, minyak kelapa sawit mentah juga berbeda dengan minyak kelapa yang dihasilkan dari inti buah kelapa (cocos nuifcera). Tak hanya itu, perbedaan lainnya terletak pada kandungan yang dimiliki oleh masing-masing jenis minyak. CPO pada dasarnya mempunyai warna kemerahan karena adanya beta karoten yang tinggi.
